Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr CR Abrar today emphasized the enduring influence of the 11 scouts who became martyrs during the July Movement, stating that their sacrifice continues to guide the nation's efforts to forge a new Bangladesh. He delivered these remarks at a national award ceremony hosted by Bangladesh Scouts at their headquarters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar paid homage to the martyred and injured scouts of the July Movement, claiming their sacrifice has fortified the nation's commitment to building a new Bangladesh. He described their actions as a perpetual source of inspiration. The ceremony saw the participation of Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Md Ehsanul Hoque as a special guest, with Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs and President of Bangladesh Scouts Nasimul Ghani presiding over the event.
The ceremony recognized scouts from across the country with Shapla Cub Awards, President Scout Awards, and President's Rover Scout Awards. Dr Abrar highlighted that scouting is not merely about earning badges but involves comprehensive training in character-building, human values, leadership, responsibility, and community service. He noted the active role scouts play during national disasters and urged the expansion of scouting activities to nurture self-reliant and service-oriented citizens.
Dr Abrar also highlighted Bangladesh's achievements on the international stage, noting that the country now ranks fourth among 176 scout nations and has exhibited significant leadership within various committees in the Asia-Pacific region. He also praised the notable increase in women's participation in scouting.
In his address to the award recipients, Dr Abrar emphasized their role as future leaders of the nation, urging them to develop into exemplary citizens with honesty, courage, resilience, and humanity, as this is what the country expects from them.
