Gaibandha: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gaibandha Mohammad Masudur Rahman Mollah has emphasized the need to ensure essential facilities for char residents to speed up development in the district's underdeveloped areas. He made these remarks while addressing a function as the chief guest at Char Kunderpara under Kamarjani Union of Sadar Upazila on Thursday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DC highlighted the isolation of char dwellers from the mainland, which results in their deprivation of fundamental rights such as healthcare and education. He stated that it is a primary duty to integrate these communities into the mainstream development process, similar to those living on the mainland.

The DC noted that non-government organizations can significantly contribute alongside government efforts to provide services to these marginalized communities. The event organized by the district administration aimed to connect char residents with upazila-level government and non-government service providers.

He called on all concerned officials to demonstrate increased commitment to enhancing the overall development of char communities. The function was attended by ADC-General Jadob Sarker, Sadar UNO Mahmud Al-Hasan, upazila-level government officials, and representatives from non-government organizations, including Gana Unnayan Kendra and Friendship, who reiterated their dedication to delivering necessary services to char residents.
