Kurigram: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today announced that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is prepared to participate in the upcoming national elections as per the schedule announced by the government, provided no significant political or administrative crisis arises.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made this statement while addressing journalists after offering Jummah prayers at Sardarpara Jame Mosque. He emphasized that the BNP has completed all necessary field-level preparations to contest the polls. Rizvi's visit to Kurigram included attending a doa mahfil, a prayer gathering, for the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
When questioned about Khaleda Zia's health and the forthcoming elections, Rizvi stressed that her recovery remains a primary concern for the party. However, he confirmed that the BNP is ready to engage in the electoral process before the next Ramadan, as declared by the government. He also remarked that "no repression by fascist Hasina" could silence Khaleda Zia, highlighting the support she receives from both the public and the international community.
Rizvi further noted the widespread emotional reaction across the nation as a testament to the people's affection for Khaleda Zia. The gathering during his visit included local leaders from BNP, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal, underscoring the party's unity and readiness for the elections.
