Chattogram: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman here today said fascists but not fascism have departed yet from the country and warned that people in no way would tolerate reemergence or fresh practice of fascist culture in the future. 'If anyone tries to behave like deposed fascist forces, I categorically would like to announce that, whether it (fascism) is red or black, none in this soil would tolerate them,' Jamaat Ameer said while addressing the Chattogram divisional rally of the 8-party alliance held at Laldighi Maidan this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the 8-party alliance organized the grand gathering as part of its countrywide program to press home their five-point demands. These include the implementation of the July Charter before the national election through a separate referendum, the introduction of a PR system for both upper and lower houses of parliament, ensuring a level playing field before the national election, visible trial and punishment of genocide and corruption carried out by the deposed Awami League, and imposing a ban on the activities of component parties of the AL-led 14-party alliance as collaborators in AL's misdeeds.
Senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Syed Md Foyzul Karim and Ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Moulana Mamunul Haque also addressed the meeting. Dr. Shafiqur emphasized that they do not want the victory of any particular party, even of the 8-party alliance, but want to ensure the victory of the aspirations of 18 crore people of the country. He mentioned that such a victory would help establish the law and rule of the Quran. He added that the whistle of victory would blow from villages, envisioning a future Bangladesh aligned with the teachings of the Quran.
Jamaat Ameer pointed out that people of the country did not talk freely from 2009 to July 2024. He claimed there was no safety and security for the people and those who became victims of suppression and injustice were deprived of justice. He accused the then ruling party Awami League of unbridled corruption, stating that twenty-eight lakh crore taka were plundered and laundered. He criticized the ruling party's development narrative, alleging that while they claimed Bangladesh developed to the level of Singapore and Canada, it was actually the personal fortunes of a few that reached such heights.
Senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Syed Foyzul Karim alleged that conspiracies were underway to defer the national polls and insisted that the next election must be held in February, with the interim government creating a congenial atmosphere for the election now. He expressed disappointment that the envisioned discrimination and extortion-free country post-July uprising did not materialize, as extortion continued, and there was no safety for businessmen and the general public. He announced plans to launch another movement against extortion and to establish the rule of Islam in the future.
Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Ameer Moulana Mamunul Haque expressed a desire to establish the rights of the people through the rule of the Quran and to disseminate the message and benefits of Islam to the downtrodden class. He called for the establishment of an "Islamic Bangladesh," urging people to vote "Yes" in the upcoming referendum.
The rally, conducted by City Jammat-e-Islami Secretary Principal Md Nurul Amin, was also addressed by Ameer of Nezam Islam Party Moulana Sarwar Kamal Azizi, Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Dr. Ahmad Abdul Quader, Vice President of JAGPA Rashed Prodhan, Ameer of Khelafat Andolan Habibullah Miaji, and Bangladesh Development Party Chairman A K M Anowarul Islam Chan.
