Cumilla: Three women were killed in a road accident on the Karikandi-Charrajapur road in Titas upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Rina Akhter, 35, wife of Shukkur Ali of Karikandi village, Rujina Akhter, 30, wife of Emon Mia, and Shamshun Nahar, 40, wife of Faruk Mia, all from the same village. The accident occurred at 12 noon when a truck fell on the women while they were taking a bath in a canal adjacent to the Titas river.
Rina Akhter and Rujina Akhter died on the spot. Shamshun Nahar was rescued by locals and transported to Titas Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Titas Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Khaled Saifullah confirmed the incident. The bodies have been handed over to the family members.
