Rangpur: The Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) authority has published the revised voter list for the Begum Rokeya University Central Students Union (BRUCSU) and Hall Students Union Elections-2025. This development allows the election process, which was halted due to a defective voter list, to resume.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BRUR Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Showkat informed that the revised voter list has been handed over to the BRUCSU Election Commission-2025. The suspension of the election process has been in effect since December 1, 2005. The revised list includes undergraduate students from the academic years 2016-2025 and postgraduate students from 2022-2025.
A BRUR press release has requested students with objections to the revised voter list to submit them in writing to the Election Commission office on December 4 between 10 am and 4 pm, and on December 7 from 10 am to 12 pm.
The BRUCSU Elections-2025 schedule initially included the distribution of nomination papers starting November 30, continuing until the afternoon of December 1. However, the Election Commission announced a postponement of the election during a press briefing on December 1 at 4:30 pm.
Election Commissioner Dr Mohsina Ahsan stated that activities related to the election schedule, including the distribution of nomination papers, would be suspended until the hall-based voter list inconsistencies are addressed. The Registrar's Office has been urged to rectify errors, omissions, and duplications in the voter list promptly to facilitate the resumption of the election process.
The BRUCSU and Hall Students Union Elections-2025 are set to take place for the first time on December 24, 2025.
