EC Warns Candidacy Cancellation If Electoral Code of Conduct Violated

Narayanganj: Election Commissioner (EC) Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker today warned of cancelling candidacy if any candidate violates the electoral code of conduct in the upcoming national elections. 'Strict action will be taken if the code of conduct is violated in the upcoming national elections. The Election Commission will not spare anyone if the code of conduct is violated.if any candidate violates the code of conduct, his or her candidature will be cancelled,' he said.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarker issued this warning while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled 'Identifying and overcoming challenges of polling officials in the election process' at Saira Garden in Bandar upazila this afternoon. He emphasized that there would be no negligence in organizing the elections, as the Commission aims to take all necessary measures to ensure a free, fair, and neutral election.

Sarker also stated that there would be no posters during the election, highlighting the Commission's commitment to maintaining strict adherence to election rules as soon as the election schedule is announced. He assured that measures would be taken to create a level playing field for all candidates.

The workshop was attended by several officials, including Director General of the Electoral Training Institute (ETI) Md. Hasanuzzaman, Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Md Raihan Kabir, Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman Munshi, Deputy Secretary Md Mustafa Hasan, and Regional Election Officer Yunus Ali.
