Govt to Extend Maximum Cooperation for Tarique’s Return: Asif Nazrul

Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul today announced that the government is prepared to provide maximum cooperation to facilitate the return of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to Bangladesh. Dr. Nazrul assured reporters that there are no known legal barriers preventing Tarique Rahman's return, and even if any obstacles arise, the government is committed to ensuring his safe return and security.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Nazrul's remarks came amidst renewed discussions about Tarique Rahman's potential return. He emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with Tarique Rahman, expressing confidence that Rahman will choose the appropriate time to return. Dr. Nazrul criticized the speculation about Rahman's return, emphasizing the personal nature of the decision, which involves family dynamics between Tarique Rahman and his mother, Begum Khaleda Zia.

Dr. Nazrul further stated that it is inappropriate to make assumptions or comments on why Tarique Rahman has not yet returned, highlighting the importance of respecting the personal considerations involved. He reiterated that the decision should be made by the family, who best understand the timing and circumstances surrounding Rahman's return.
