Dhaka: Health officials today announced the recording of 636 new dengue cases, with five fatalities occurring in the past 24 hours. "We recorded deaths of five dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," stated a spokesman of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), who also noted the simultaneous detection of 636 new dengue cases during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics reveal that one death occurred in the Chattogram division, three in the Dhaka South City Corporation, and one in the Khulna division. The breakdown of the new cases shows 75 hospitalizations in the Barishal division, 95 in Chattogram, 116 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital, 74 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 147 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, 56 cases were noted in the Khulna division, 45 in Mymensingh, 17 in Rajshahi, two in Rangpur, and nine in Sylhet.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has reported 382 deaths and 94,402 cases of the disease. In comparison, last year saw 575 fatalities and 1,01,214 infections across the country.
