Rangpur: A special seminar on 'Hong Kong Higher Education and Research' was held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) to highlight the opportunities for higher education and research in Hong Kong universities. Organised by the BRUR Scholarship Support Office in the virtual classroom of the university's Academic Building-2, Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali virtually attended the seminar as the chief guest on Sunday afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Director of the Office of Students Affairs of BRUR, Prof Dr Md Ilias Pramanik, and Assistant Prof of the Department of Management Information Systems and PhD Fellow of the City University of Hong Kong, Md Shamsul Alam, addressed the seminar. The speakers discussed in detail the higher education structure, scholarship opportunities, research areas, application process, preparation, and various facilities provided to international students in top universities in Hong Kong.

In his speech, the VC emphasized that quality improvement in higher education and research in the global context is one of the foundations of the university's progress. The present BRUR administration has taken steps for the skill development of students beyond academic studies.
