Chattogram: Secretary to the Ministry of Law, Judiciary and Parliamentary Affairs Liakat Ali Mollah today emphasized that the digitization of existing family courts through the e-family court system represents a significant initiative aimed at reducing the challenges faced by litigants. He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the e-family court in Chattogram, which took place at the Bar Association Auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Law Secretary highlighted the primary features of the newly launched digital court. The system allows for all procedures, ranging from filing complaints to conducting daily court activities, to be completed online as it is fully digital. Liakat Ali Mollah noted that the introduction of the e-family court in Chattogram is set to revolutionize the delivery of legal services by ensuring that manual operations continue alongside digital services, thus providing a more efficient and transparent legal process.
The Law Secretary further explained that the new digital system is expected to significantly reduce the fear of losing case files and expedite the resolution of family court cases. "Digitization will lessen harassment of justice-seekers, end cumbersome processes, and ensure transparency in case procedures," he stated.
During the event, Chattogram District Bar Association President Advocate Abdus Satter commented on the technological advancements of the e-family court, describing it as paperless and fully equipped with necessary technologies to expedite legal processes. He explained that litigants can now record attendance, file complaints, sign Vakalatnama, and attend hearings remotely. Notifications on case developments will be sent via SMS, reducing the need for unnecessary court visits.
To utilize the e-family court services, litigants and lawyers are required to register through official apps, providing basic information and setting a personal password for access, as informed by officials. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Chattogram District and Session Judge Hemayet Uddin, Metropolitan Session Judge Hasanul Islam, and Joint Secretary of the Law, Judiciary and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry Azizul Haque.
