Dhaka: Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan has held a meeting with Mehmet Turan, president of Turkey-based non-profit Islamic organisation IDDEF. The meeting took place at the DU VC's residence office on the university campus, where discussions centered around the reconstruction of the Dhaka University Central Mosque.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, IDDEF, which stands for 'Insana Deger Veren Dernekler Federasyonu,' focuses on fostering humanity and was represented by its International Coordinator Salahuddin Silan during the meeting. The gathering included prominent DU officials such as Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, and Associate Prof of the Department of World Religions and Culture Dr. Muha. Abdullah Al Mahmud.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the mosque reconstruction project, which aims to provide modern facilities alongside provisions for education and research. A digital survey for the project has been completed, and the final architectural design is underway. University authorities have indicated that construction is expected to commence shortly after a memorandum of understanding is signed between Dhaka University and IDDEF.
