National Livestock Week and Exhibition Inaugurated in Narail

Narail: National Livestock Week and Livestock Exhibition was inaugurated at Sadar upazila Livestock office and Veterinary Hospital premises today. Marking the week, the upazila livestock office and veterinary hospital arranged elaborate programs in cooperation with the Livestock and Dairy Development Project under the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a colorful rally was brought out at 11:30 am to celebrate the occasion. Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held with Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanchita Biswas presiding over the event. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam attended as the chief guest, while District Animal Resources Officer Dr. Md. Rashedul Haque, Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension Muhammad Arifur Rahman, and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Rakibul Hasan participated as special guests. Sadar upazila livestock officer Debashish Kumar Kundu delivered the welcome speech, and Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam moderated the discussion.

The speakers highlighted the importance of further developing the livestock sector to meet the local demand for protein. They emphasized the need to create more entrepreneurs in the upazila and promote livestock farming as a social movement, making it popular among the youth. Upazila livestock officer Debashish Kumar Kundu stated that the livestock department is committed to ensuring a safe, adequate, and quality protein supply for all.

A total of 30 stalls have been set up for the exhibition to showcase the various types of livestock found in the upazila.
