Dhaka: Although women's participation in sports in Bangladesh is increasing, they continue to face challenges regarding social protection. Various obstacles and risks within families, society, institutions, and sports structures hinder the sports careers of women.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a seminar titled 'Social Protection of Female Athletes in the Country's Sports Arena' was held at the Audio Visual Center of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) to address these issues. The seminar was presided over by BKSP Director General Brigadier General Md. Munirul Islam.
The speakers at the seminar shared ideas, opinions, and experiences about female athletes, enriching the understanding of those present. They highlighted that the social protection of female athletes is not merely an institutional issue but also a social responsibility and a national need.
During the seminar, BKSP Director General Brigadier General Md. Munirul Islam congratulated the female athletes for the honor they bring to the country despite many limitations. He emphasized the need to create a safe, dignified, and supportive environment for female athletes.
He called for a collective effort to build a sports arena where male and female players have equal opportunities, dignity, safety, and financial benefits, including salary and allowances.
The event was attended by current and former female players of BKSP, teachers from BKSP College, and female coaches.
