Dhaka: The expulsion order for 65 leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations has been officially withdrawn. This announcement was made through a press release signed by Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the Senior Joint Secretary General of the party, today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the leaders had previously been expelled for engaging in activities that were deemed contrary to the interests of the BNP. Among those affected were key figures such as Kushtia's Veramara upazila BNP's women affairs secretary, Indonesia Situ, and Narsingdi's Alokbali union BNP's former member secretary, Md. Abdur Kaiyum Sarkar. The list extended to include many others, such as Abdullah Al-Mamun from Sunamganj's Jamalganj upazila, and Md. Jahangir Hossain from Patuakhali's Mirzaganj upazila, among others.
The press release detailed the expulsion of leaders from various regions and positions within the party structure, including Md. Delwar Hossain, former joint general secretary of Moulvibazar district BNP, and Dr. Abdul Alim Yachini, senior joint convener of Habiganj's Nabiganj Municipal BNP. These leaders were removed from all party positions, including primary membership, due to alleged activities opposing party interests.
The party, after considering applications and internal decisions, decided to withdraw the expulsion orders. This move marks a significant shift in the BNP's approach toward its members, potentially indicating a reconciliatory strategy within the party ranks.
In a related development, the BNP also lifted the expulsion order of Md. Mozamm Hossain Mridha from Patuakhali's Mirzaganj upazila. Mridha, who had been expelled for violating party discipline and engaging in activities against the party's ideology, has been reinstated following a review by party policymakers.
