Dhaka: Voter registration for expatriate Bangladeshi citizens living in 16 countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, began today. Eligible Bangladeshis residing abroad can complete their registration through the 'Postal Vote BD' App, with the process continuing until November 28.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the remaining 13 countries where registration has started today are New Zealand, Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas. The voter registration process for expatriate Bangladeshis living in East Asia, South America, and Africa will also remain open until November 28.

This initiative marks a significant step, as the Bangladesh Election Commission has, for the first time, enabled expatriate citizens to cast their votes through postal ballots. To support applicants, the Election Commission has launched a 24-hour helpdesk for assistance related to registration via the Postal Vote App.
