Tangail: The National Consumer Rights Protection Department imposed a fine of Taka 2 lakh on Zahirul Islam, a food supplier for three popular biryani outlets-Haji Birani, Kachchi Khadak, and Hanif Kachchi Birani. The fine was issued after authorities discovered evidence of the supplier cooking with stale, smelly food and rotten meat in unsanitary conditions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation took place on Monday afternoon in the Kandapara area of the district town. The drive was led by Asaduzzaman Romel, Assistant Director of the District Consumer Affairs Department. During the operation, it was revealed that Zahirul Islam had been regularly mixing stale and foul-smelling food items, including rotten meat, with fresh ingredients before supplying them to the biryani outlets.
The operation was conducted in the presence of Sanitary Inspector Shahida Akhtar, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) District Branch General Secretary Abu Zubair Ujjal, as well as members of the army and police, ensuring a comprehensive inspection of the premises.
