Dhaka: The government today approved re-fixed levelized power tariffs to ensure sustainable operations for seven power plants in the country. This decision was made during the 47th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase, which took place at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proposals for re-fixed levelized tariffs were presented by the Power Division. These proposals pertain to the following power plants: Gazipur 105 MW HFO plant operated by Rural Power Co. Ltd, Raozan 25.5 MW HFO plant under RPCL, Kodda, Gazipur 149.356 MW plant managed by B-R Powergen Ltd, Mirsarai 163 MW dual-fuel plant also by B-R Powergen Ltd, Gazipur Kodda 52.194 MW plant under RPCL, Sreepur 160 MW HFO plant managed by B-R Powergen Ltd, and Sonagazi 75 MW solar power plant.
The committee meticulously reviewed each of the proposals before recommending the approval of the re-fixed levelized tariffs. Officials stated that these tariff adjustments are aimed at ensuring the sustainable operation of existing generation facilities while also supporting the transition to cleaner power sources.
