Rangpur: The RPL Season-3 Cricket T20 Tournament 2025 was inaugurated today at Rangpur Stadium, marking the beginning of an exciting competition with eight teams from the district set to participate. The formal opening was conducted by Rangpur District Football Association President Manjur Ahmed Azad, who was joined by local dignitaries, sportspersons, and political leaders. The ceremony included the symbolic release of pigeons to signal the start of the tournament.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, senior BNP leader Kawsar Zaman Babla, Metropolitan Jubo Dal convener Nurunnabi Chowdhury Milon, Member Secretary Atiqur Islam Lelin, senior joint convener Jahir Alam Nayan, and ‘Echche Society’ founder Tanvir Ahmed Tushar attended the event. The opening match featured a contest between the ‘Vinnojagat Imozhar’ and ‘Taqwa Fashion’ teams.
Metropolitan Jubo Dal senior joint convener Jahir Alam Nayan addressed the gathering, emphasizing that the tournament aims to encourage youth participation in sports as a means to divert them from drug use. His sentiments were echoed by Rangpur District Football Association President Manjur Ahmed Azad, who highlighted the importance of sports in developing mental strength, physical fitness, and improving focus on studies among school and college students. Azad also expressed a commitment to organizing more games and wished success for the tournament.
