Rangpur: The polling date for the Begum Rokeya University Central Students’ Union (BRUCSU) and Hall Students’ Union (HSU) elections has been rescheduled to ensure a festive atmosphere with active student participation. The election, originally slated for December 29, 2025, will now be held on December 24, 2025, as per an announcement by the six-member BRUCSU Election Commission on Thursday evening.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BRUCSU Election Commission cited concerns over potential disruptions due to three consecutive public holidays preceding the initial polling date. The commission believes that advancing the date will facilitate smoother voting processes and enhance the overall electoral environment.

This will be the first time since the university’s establishment in 2008 that elections for the BRUCSU and Hall Students’ Unions will take place. The Election Commission anticipates that the revised date will encourage spontaneous student participation, making the elections a more vibrant event.

The Election Commission emphasized in a press release that the rescheduling aims to ensure fair, transparent, and participatory elections, thereby strengthening the democratic process within the university.
