Dhaka: Six students from Dhaka University's Faculty of Pharmacy have been honored with the prestigious Dean's Award for their exceptional performance in the Bachelor of Professional Pharmacy examinations for the academic years 2022 and 2023.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the awards ceremony took place at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, where seven faculty members were also recognized with the Dean's Honor for their significant contributions to research in the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The event also saw the presentation of the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society (BPS) Gold Medal to two individuals, along with the Novelist Sarder Jayenuddin Gold Medal to two other recipients. Furthermore, students who achieved the highest GPAs or marks in the professional B. Pharm examinations of 2022 and 2023 were awarded the Badrunnessa Gafur Memorial Trust Scholarship, while 16 students received the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society (BPS) Scholarship.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, who served as the chief guest. The event was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Selim Reza. Other notable attendees included Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. The Dean's Award speech was delivered by Md. Naser Shahriar Zahedi, Chairman of Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
The students honored with the Dean's Award include Sadia Afrin, Fahima Jannat Koli, and Al Ashiqur Rahman Alif for the year 2022, and Md. Tawhidul Islam, Rafiuddin Khan Labib, and Rumman Reza for the year 2023. The Dean's Honor for faculty members was awarded to Professor Dr. Abu Asad Chowdhury, Professor Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Muhit, Professor Dr. Shimul Haldar, Dr. Md. Al Amin Sikder, Dr. Zobayer Al Mahmud, and Dr. Md. Raihan Sarkar.
The BPS Gold Medal recipients were Sadia Afrin and Md. Towhidul Islam, while the Novelist Sardar Joyenuddin Gold Medal was awarded to Sadia Afrin and Rumman Reza. The BPS Scholarship for 2022 was awarded to Rayhana Haque Zebin, Tahmina Akter Tanbi, Zobayer Hasan, Md. Sheikh Farid Sardar, Faria Anan Sristi, Azmain Ishat Khan, Md. Tawhidul Islam, and Rumman Reza. The 2023 recipients included Jerin Anjum Sifat, Farzana Tabassum, Raihana Haque Jerin, Tahmina Akter Tanbi, Rafi Uz Zaman, Shayela Haque Shuchi, Faria Anan Sristi, and Azmain Ishat Khan.
The Badrunnessa Gafur Memorial Trust Scholarship for 2022 was awarded to Raihana Haque Zebin, Zobayer Hasan, Faria Anan Sristi, and Tawhidul Islam, while the 2023 recipients included Jerin Anjum Sifat, Rayhana Haque Zebin, Rafi Uz Zaman, and Faria Anan Sristi.
