Legal Aid Services Recover Over TK 302 Crore for Insolvent Litigants

Dhaka: Over TK 302 crore has been recovered in compensation in favour of insolvent litigants through the National Legal Aid Services Organization. This significant achievement highlights the organization’s commitment to providing legal assistance to those in need.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this information was published in a report on the organization’s website, detailing the legal assistance provided through Legal Aid from 2009 to October 2025. The report specifies that a total of TK 302 crore 7 lakh 1 thousand 659 has been recovered in pre-case and post-case compensation for insolvent litigants.



Of the total amount, TK 295 crore 83 lakh 19 thousand 743 was recovered through Legal Aid offices situated in 64 districts across the country, while TK 6 crore 95 lakh 81 thousand 916 was recovered through the Dhaka and Chattogram labour legal aid cells. These recoveries illustrate the widespread reach and effectiveness of the organization’s efforts.



From 2009 to October 2025, the National Legal Aid Services Organization has successfully provided government-funded legal assistance to a total of 13 lakh 30 thousand 161 people. Legal services are delivered through 64 district Legal Aid offices, the Supreme Court Legal Aid office, the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and a national legal aid helpline call centre, which is accessible toll-free at 16699.



Under the Legal Aid Services Act, the organization provides government-funded legal assistance to insolvent and disadvantaged litigants nationwide. The National Legal Aid Services Organization operates under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, ensuring that legal aid is available to those who need it most.
