Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) has taken a significant step by nominating five student representatives to the university Senate. This decision was made under Section 19(1)(k) of the Jahangirnagar University Act, 1973, marking an important development in student representation at the institution.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, JUCSU General Secretary Md. Mazharul Islam highlighted the absence of student representation in the Senate due to the lack of JUCSU elections over the past 33 years. This nomination brings student voices back into the decision-making process at the university.
The nominated members who will now represent the student body in the Senate include Vice-President Abdur Rashid Jitu, General Secretary Md. Mazharul Islam, Joint General Secretary (Male) Ferdous Al Hasan, Joint General Secretary (Female) Ayesha Siddika Meghla, and Secretary for Environment and Nature Conservation Md. Safayet Mir.
