Madaripur: The district administration has intensified Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrolling in Madaripur in response to the ICT verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun. The security measures have been increased with the deployment of four BGB platoons alongside the army and police from Sunday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Crimes and Ops Jahangir Alam stated that the BGB has been deployed for specific reasons and that the law and order in the district is currently under control. The BGB personnel are working under the supervision of executive magistrates.
The joint patrols, which include BGB, Army, and Police officials, commenced on Sunday afternoon and are continuing in key areas of the town. Special deployments have been established at bus stands, Natun Bazar, Puran Bazar, and main roads in the district.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana, Adil Hossain, mentioned that law enforcement forces are on high alert to handle any potential situations. Traffic flow around the town is reported to be nearly normal, with most shops and markets open, indicating that the overall situation in the district remains stable.
