Dhaka: The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 25 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from the capital in the last 24 hours. These detentions are part of an ongoing investigation into plans for sabotage, organizing sudden "flash" processions, and carrying out crude bomb explosions in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were executed through coordinated raids across various areas of Dhaka over the past 24 hours. Deputy Commissioner of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests, underscoring the police's proactive measures to thwart potential disruptions in the city.
Those apprehended include former Legal Affairs Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Sramik League Md. Sohel, former General Secretary of Banani Thana Ward No. 20 Sramik League Md. Didar, and Joint General Secretary of Manikganj District Chhatra League Md. Nadim Hossain, among others. The list also features various office bearers and active members from different branches of the Awami League and its affiliate organizations.
The DB emphasized its ongoing commitment to curbing any resurgence of banned political activities in Dhaka, maintaining that upholding law and order remains its foremost priority.
