Dhaka: Khadeejatul Kubra, a student of Jagannath University (JnU) who previously served prison terms under the Digital Security Act, has been made joint convener of the JnU unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD). The appointment was confirmed in a letter issued today by JCD Central Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the central body of JCD stated that Kubra, who had been serving as a primary member, was elevated to this new position in recognition of her organizational activity and competence. Kubra is a Political Science student at JnU and has been actively involved in student politics.
Kubra's legal troubles began when she was implicated in two cases filed under the Digital Security Act by Kalabagan and New Market police stations on October 11 and 19, 2020. Following the submission of charge sheets, she was arrested on August 27, 2022. Kubra spent a total of 445 days in detention before being released on November 20, 2023. Her appointment to the new role signifies a significant step in her political career post-incarceration.
