Dhaka: The Detective Branch (DB) of police has detained 10 more leaders and activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations for allegedly planning and financing flash processions aimed at triggering unrest in the capital. DB officials said the arrests were made in a series of coordinated raids across different areas of the city over the last 24 hours. Units from the Motijheel, Gulshan, Cyber, Wari, and Mirpur divisions took part in the operations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, those arrested include Abdur Rahman Jamil alias Sagar, General Secretary of Char Lorenz Union Swechchhasebak League from Lakshmipur, and Jewel Bala, Legal Affairs Secretary at Satpar Govt. Nazrul College Chhatra League in Gopalganj. Other individuals taken into custody are Jewel Hossain, Organizing Secretary of Otra Union Awami League from Barishal, and Md. Salman Hossain Emon, Vice-President of Ward 40 in Bhatara.
Further detained are Kariulla Sarkar, former Organizing Secretary of Palash Upazila Awami League from Narsingdi, and Md. Tanvir Haque Nadim, Chhatra League President of Ward 40 in Bhatara. Also arrested are Md. Humayun Mia, Vice-President of Unit 1, Ward 24 Awami League in Tejgaon, and Tariqul Islam Joy, Joint General Secretary of Mohsin Hall Chhatra League at Dhaka University. The list includes Asaduzzaman Naeem, a Chhatra League activist from Galachipa in Patuakhali, and Md. Nasirul Islam Himel, another Chhatra League activist from Mymensingh.
Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests, stating that legal proceedings are underway against all 10 accused.
