Dhaka: The Ministry of Finance has issued an urgent request for public awareness regarding a fraudulent video circulating on social media, specifically Facebook. The video, which misuses the identity of Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, is being used for advertising or promotional purposes by an interested group.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry confirmed that the misleading content utilizes the picture and video of Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. The ministry strongly asserted that the statements and information presented in the video have absolutely no connection or involvement with the Ministry of Finance or the Finance Adviser.
Initial observations suggested that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology was deployed, specifically used to provide the voice and feature the Finance Adviser's photograph in the background. This type of deceptive content is creating misunderstandings among the public and is causing harm to the social and state dignity of the Finance Adviser.
In response to the circulation of this content, the Ministry of Finance has already taken the required measures to secure the removal of the video and initiate legal action. The ministry is urging all citizens not to be misled or confused by this or similar types of fake videos and news and to avoid them entirely.
Furthermore, the public is requested not to conduct any financial transactions without first verifying and confirming the information.
