Gopalganj: Assistant Organizing Secretary of BNP central committee and candidate for Gopalganj-1 constituency, Selimuzzaman Selim, engaged in a dialogue with local journalists regarding the upcoming general election at the office of Kashiani Upazila BNP.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by various party officials including Upazila BNP President Md. Golam Mostafa Molya, General Secretary Sheikh Md. Selim, Office Secretary Nure Burhan Liton, member secretary of Jubo Dal Ariful Islam Pavel, Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Forkan Sharif Tito, and Chhatra Dal President Amirul Islam. Selimuzzaman shared insights into his political journey and future aspirations, while addressing the current national scenario and fielding questions from the press.
Selimuzzaman recalled his experience in the 2008 election from the Gopalganj-1 constituency as a candidate of the Four-Party Alliance. He highlighted discrepancies in the electoral process in Gopalganj-1 compared to other districts, specifically mentioning the absence of polling agents for his party's symbol during the election. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the fundamental right to vote and express opinions freely.
In his address to the journalists, Selimuzzaman acknowledged their role in challenging authoritative governance through their writing. He expressed gratitude to the journalists for supporting democratic movements and urged them to ensure fair conduct of the upcoming election. He called on them to stand by the people and BNP activists to promote democracy.
Expressing confidence in his potential victory in the forthcoming election, Selim stated that party leaders Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman had entrusted him with the 'paddy-sheaf' symbol. He pledged his commitment to unity and peace among the people of Kashiani-Muksudpur, irrespective of religious identity, and assured support against wrongful cases or harassment. Selim emphasized coordination with the administration to foster harmony and peace in the community.
