Sirajganj: BNP standing committee member and former minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku today announced that the century-old madrasa under the Sirajganj Central Jame Mosque has been revived and renamed as the 'Central Jame Mosque Model Madrasa'. The construction of a new multi-storied building for the madrasa is set to commence within the next month.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku made this announcement before Jum'ah prayers, highlighting that renovation work, including the installation of a new main gate and security gate, has already started. This initiative is part of an effort to modernize and enhance the facilities of the historic educational institution.
Mosque Committee Senior Vice President Md. Saidur Rahman Bacchu, alongside local BNP leaders and community representatives, attended the event. Their presence underscores the community's support for the renovation project, which aims to preserve the madrasa's legacy while adapting to current educational standards.
Following the announcement, a special prayer was held after Jum'ah, seeking peace and prosperity for the nation. This gesture reflects the hope that the renovation will contribute positively to the community and its future generations.
