Dinajpur: Police have arrested seven leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations in connection with a sabotage attack in Kaharol upazila. The arrests took place today following a police operation based on secret information.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals were accused in two separate cases of sabotage and had been evading capture for a significant period. Acting on intelligence, law enforcement officers conducted a raid on a residence, resulting in the capture of the accused.
The individuals arrested include Kaharol Upazila Jubo League joint secretary Biswajit Kumar Das, 32; joint secretary Dipu Das, 34; union AL general secretary Sayed Hasan Ali, 40; Union Chhatra League joint secretary Abdus Salam, 27; union AL general secretary Shafikul Islam, 42; and union Jubo League president Aminul Islam, 35. Additionally, Jubo League leader Swapan Das, 40, son of Harimohon Roy of Uchitpur Village, was apprehended due to an outstanding court warrant against him.
Authorities have announced that the arrestees will be presented in court later today.
