Dhaka: The 'World Diabetes Day-2025' was observed today across the country to raise awareness about diabetes. The day was marked vigorously with campaigns, free diabetic tests, marathons, seminars, discussions, and rallies.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the theme of the day this year was 'Raising Diabetic Awareness in Workplace'. In Dhaka, the day began with a marathon run launched by the Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES). More than a thousand registered participants, including renowned endocrinologists, BES members, doctors, students, and the general public, joined the 7.5 kilometers marathon that started from the Hatirjheel Amphitheater.
In Cumilla, a daylong free diabetic test campaign and awareness seminar were held at Brahmanpara Diabetic Hospital, where more than two hundred people were tested for diabetes. Madaripur hosted a rally and discussion alongside free diabetes tests at the Madaripur Diabetic Hospital.
In Jhalokathi, the day was observed with a rally and discussion organized by the Jhalokathi Diabetic Samity. Kushtia saw a colorful rally and discussion, organized by the Kushtia Diabetic Association. National Professor AK Azad Khan, Chairman of the Health Reforms Commission and President of the Bangladesh Diabetic Association, attended the program as a guest.
In the Satkhira district, a colorful procession was brought out from Satkhira Circuit House, visiting important roads before concluding at Satkhira Diabetes Hospital. The occasion also featured a free medical camp offering diabetes tests and treatment.
Similar events were observed in Feni, Bogura, Bandarban, Laxmipur, and other districts, reflecting the nationwide participation in the day's activities.
