UGC Urges Universities to Promote Erasmus Plus Scholarships

Dhaka: The University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Prof. Masuma Habib today called on university authorities to raise awareness about the Erasmus Plus Scholarship to enable more Bangladeshi students to benefit from the program. She made this appeal during the 'Erasmus Plus Information Day' workshop held at the UGC auditorium, which focused on expanding higher education, research, and scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students at European universities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Masuma Habib encouraged the European Union (EU) to further expand higher education opportunities for Bangladeshi students. She highlighted that Bangladeshi students currently rank third globally among Erasmus Plus recipients, underscoring the significant interest and participation from the country.

The event was attended by Prof. Mohammad Ayub Islam and the EU Deputy Head of Delegation, Baiba Zari?a, as special guests, with UGC Director Jasmin Parvin presiding over the event. In his address, Prof. Ayub emphasized the need for EU support and training to address the shortage of skilled manpower in Bangladesh.

Teachers and students from 60 universities, along with officials from UGC and the EU, participated in the event, reflecting the wide interest in fostering educational opportunities and collaborations between Bangladesh and European institutions.
