5 Members of Notorious Robber Gang Arrested in Chandpur

Chandpur: Members of the Coast Guard arrested five individuals belonging to the infamous Kibria Miyaji gang from Munshiganj at the Mohanpur Launch ghat area. The operation, conducted last night, led to the seizure of weapons, speed boats, and cash from the suspects.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Ebadullah Gazi, 50, Anwar Hossain, 55, Jasim Uddin, 50, SM Alamgir, 45, and Md. Jobair Khan, 27. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq reported that intelligence sources had been tracking the gang's activities, which included extortion, robbery, and kidnapping on boats in the river near Mohanpur launch ghat.

After receiving a tip-off, the Coast Guard team from the Mohanpur Outpost executed a raid around 10 pm, leading to the capture of the five suspects involved in the robbery at Bulkhead. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a foreign shotgun, 10 rounds of live ammunition, 2 rounds of empty cartridges, 2 walkie-talkies, 6 mobile phones, a speed boat, and cash amounting to 83,000 taka.

Lieutenant Commander Haq mentioned that further legal actions are underway against the arrested individuals. He assured that the Coast Guard will continue similar operations to ensure the safety of the inland waterways.
