3 Sentenced to Death, 3 Given Life Term in Bogura Murder Case

Bogura: A court here today sentenced three individuals to death and three others to life imprisonment for the murder of Tojammel Haque, a candidate in the 2017 Bogura union council elections.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Judge Shahjahan Kabir of the District and Sessions Judge Court delivered the verdict on Tuesday afternoon, as confirmed by Public Prosecutor Abdul Bashed. Notably, all but one of the convicts were absent when the verdict was announced.

The individuals sentenced to death are Babul Hossain, Manik Mia, and Mishu, all residents of Durgahata village in Durgahata union. Those sentenced to life imprisonment are Pintu Pramanik, Delwar Hossain, and Ashiq, who reside in Baithabhanga village of the upazila.

The prosecution detailed that on November 27, 2017, Tojammel Haque was hacked to death in Baithabhanga village in Durgahata union of Gabtoli upazila. The murder case was filed by the deceased's brother, Momin Molla, against ten individuals.
