Jhenaidah: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6, CPC-2, Jhenaidah Camp have arrested the accused driver in a murder case filed under the Road Transport Act. Acting on a tip-off, a special team from the RAB conducted an operation in the Garaganj Bazar area under Shailkupa Police Station in Jhenaidah District and arrested Md. Kajol Sheikh, 35, son of Dudu Mia, a resident of Ibrahimpur village of the same upazila, said in a RAB-6 press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the preliminary investigation revealed that Kajol Sheikh was driving a Golden Line Paribahan bus when it hit an easybike coming from the opposite direction. The collision caused the easybike to crash into a roadside ditch, resulting in the death of a woman, Sohagi Khatun, 50, on the spot.
Following the incident, the victim's son, Md Ohab Ali, filed a case with Harinakundu Police Station, accusing the bus driver of causing death by reckless driving. The arrested accused was handed over to Harinakundu Police Station for further legal action, the RAB press release added.
