Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on all types of gatherings around the Supreme Court and the judges' complex starting tomorrow, citing security concerns. The decision was made public through an official order aiming to maintain public order in the area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notice specifies that the restriction affects all meetings, rallies, mass gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-in strikes, and processions. These activities are prohibited in front of key locations, including the official residence of the Chief Justice, Justice Bhaban, Judges Complex, and the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
The ban also extends to additional areas such as Mazar Gate, Jame Masjid Gate, and the entrance gates of International Crimes Tribunal 1 and 2, as well as the Judicial Administration Training Institute building.
The DMP Commissioner enforced the restriction under the authority of Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76). This measure will remain in effect from tomorrow until further notice. The Commissioner has urged all parties to avoid obstructing traffic through road blockades or protest programs.
