Dhaka: The Supreme Court authorities have prohibited entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah ground adjacent to the Bangladesh Supreme Court to ensure the overall security of the apex court and nearby institutions. An official notification signed by High Court Division Deputy Registrar (Administration and Judicial) Md Atickus Samad, stated that the Bangladesh Supreme Court is the highest institution of the country's judiciary where the Hon'ble Chief Justice and Judges of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions conduct judicial functions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, several hundred thousand case records, including those of many important and high-profile cases, are preserved in the court. It has recently been observed that the movement of outsiders and unidentified persons has increased in the National Eidgah and the fountain area adjacent to the main gate used by the Hon'ble Chief Justice to enter the Supreme Court.
The authorities have termed the situation a potential threat to the security of the Supreme Court and the International Crimes Tribunal, leading to the decision to strictly prohibit outsiders' entry into the National Eidgah ground. This measure aims to ensure the security of the Supreme Court compound, the International Crimes Tribunal, the Attorney General's Office, the Supreme Court Bar Association building, and surrounding areas.
The notification regarding this decision was issued with the approval of the competent authority.
