Next Election Will Be a Milestone for Nation: CEC

Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today announced that the upcoming national election is set to be a significant milestone for the nation. ‘On one hand, the whole world is watching; on the other, our people across the country are eagerly waiting to exercise their right to vote,’ he stated in a video message titled ‘Expectations of the Election Commission on the Upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election,’ which was uploaded today on the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat’s official Facebook page.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the video message also featured thoughts from four Election Commissioners and the EC Secretariat’s Senior Secretary. CEC Nasir Uddin expressed optimism about the enthusiasm of the young generation, especially those voting for the first time, stating, ‘Your vote is your power. Exercise your right to vote and encourage others to do the same.’



In the video message, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud addressed the impact of misinformation during elections, urging citizens to rely on authentic and credible information sources and to contact the EC office or relevant authorities if necessary. Election Commissioner Begum Tahmida Ahmad emphasized the importance of a gender-sensitive electoral process, ensuring that every eligible voter can cast their vote. She reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to facilitating voting access for all.



Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker called upon all candidates, public representatives, and citizens to adhere strictly to the electoral code of conduct, laws, and regulations, underscoring the public’s expectation for a fair election. Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Brig. Gen. Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (Retd.) highlighted the efforts to enable Bangladeshi citizens living abroad to participate in voting for the first time, expressing hope for the successful execution of this initiative with cooperation from the diaspora community.
