Penang: The Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) is gearing up to host a three-day international event titled ‘BSIA Road show 2025’ in Penang, Malaysia from November 11-13, 2025, under the theme ‘Introducing Bangladesh as Silicon River.’ The event aims to showcase Bangladesh’s emerging semiconductor ecosystem to Malaysia’s advanced semiconductor industry and global technology leaders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the road show will underscore Bangladesh’s preparedness to become a reliable partner in design, innovation, and talent within the global semiconductor value chain. This initiative follows the successful National Semiconductor Symposium-2025 held during the BEAR Summit and marks the beginning of a series of global engagements to enhance Bangladesh’s international presence in the semiconductor field.

Malaysia has been selected as the first international venue for this mission due to its status as Asia’s leading hub for semiconductor packaging and testing, hosting key global players such as ASE, Infineon, and Silterra. Bangladesh seeks to learn from Malaysia’s semiconductor success while promoting its own strengths in design talent, cost-effectiveness, and innovation.

The BSIA delegation in Malaysia will include top Bangladeshi semiconductor design and testing companies such as ULAKSEMI, Neural Semiconductor, Prime Silicon, Siliconova Limited, iTest Bangladesh, and Cactus Materials. These companies specialize in various areas including analog, RF, photonics design, AI-driven design automation, and semiconductor testing, showcasing Bangladesh’s growing capabilities in the semiconductor industry.

Prominent figures such as YB En Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang, Malaysia, and Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, will attend the event. Additionally, high officials from organizations like MIDA, MSIA, Invest Penang, and several industry leaders will be present.

BSIA President M A Jabbar emphasized that the Silicon River initiative aims to position Bangladesh as a global innovation partner. The road show is expected to connect Bangladesh’s design strengths with Malaysia’s manufacturing prowess, fostering regional cooperation.

The road show aims to establish business partnerships for joint design and OSAT projects, form a Bangladesh-Malaysia Semiconductor Collaboration Track, and develop training and IP-sharing frameworks. It also plans to launch a roadmap for bilateral Centers of Excellence and industry immersion programs to enhance technological and economic collaboration.

Purdue University Prof. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain remarked that the BSIA Road show 2025 is a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s quest to become a competitive semiconductor nation, continuing the Silicon River vision. Dr. Shatil Haque, AVP, Credo Semiconductor, highlighted the role of Bangladeshi engineers in strengthening global collaboration in design and packaging, marking the dawn of a new era for Bangladesh as the Silicon River.
