Narsingdi: BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today stated that BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was instrumental in introducing multi-party democracy in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Moyeen Khan highlighted that the BAKSAL system, which was in place from 1972 to 1975, was dismantled by Ziaur Rahman through the National Revolution and Solidarity. Khan was speaking at a rally at Ghorachatar under Palash Upazila, organized to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

Khan emphasized the enduring struggle of the people of Bangladesh for democracy, noting their readiness to sacrifice for this cause. He remarked that after independence, the Awami League had established BAKSAL and authoritarian rule, but faced persistent mass movements from the freedom-loving populace.

Following the rally, a procession was held in the upazila, with participation from hundreds of leaders and activists from the upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations.

Prominent attendees included Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar, General Secretary Saiful Haque, Joint Secretary Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Paurasava BNP President Alam Molla, General Secretary Delwar Hossain, and Palash Thana Chatra Dal President Nazmul Hossain Sohel, along with Member Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Papon.
