Dhaka: Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed today announced that the final voter list will be published, and the expatriate voter registration app will be launched on November 18.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the launch of the Expatriate Voter Registration App, initially planned for November 16, has been rescheduled to coincide with the publication of the final voter list. Akhtar Ahmed conveyed this information to reporters at his office located at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area.
Addressing the hunger strike by Aam Janata Party member secretary Tarique Rahman in front of the EC building, Ahmed stated that a legal notice had been sent. He encouraged the party to appeal and rectify any deficiencies. Ahmed explained that appeals, amendments, modifications, and extensions are common practices, urging the party to consider breaking the hunger strike.
Ahmed further elaborated that the party could appeal to the Senior Secretary or the Secretary of the Commission for reconsideration, correction, or exclusion. While applying for such considerations, whether the commission will take it into account remains a separate issue.
Regarding dialogues with political parties, Ahmed mentioned that the commission is awaiting the gazette of the code of conduct for candidates and political parties. Once received, the commission will schedule the election dialogue.
