Dhaka: Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the chief of naval staff of Pakistan, who is on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh, today paid a courtesy call on his Bangladeshi counterpart, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, at the Naval Headquarters in Banani, Dhaka. On his arrival, Admiral Ashraf was welcomed by Admiral Hassan, and was given a guard of honour by a contingent of the Bangladesh Navy, as stated in an ISPR release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during their meeting, Admiral Hassan exchanged greetings with Admiral Ashraf and expressed gratitude for his visit. Admiral Hassan emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between the two nations. Various issues of bilateral interest were discussed during the meeting. The gathering was attended by a delegation from the Pakistan Navy, the Pakistan High Commissioner, Defence Attach©, PSO’s Naval Headquarters, and senior military officials.
Earlier in his visit, Admiral Ashraf paid homage to the members of the armed forces who were martyred during the War of Liberation, at the Shikha Anirban monument in Dhaka Cantonment. He also met with Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman.
Admiral Ashraf is also scheduled to meet with the Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force, the Principal Staff Officer at the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division, and the National Defence College Commandant.
In conjunction with Admiral Ashraf’s visit, the Pakistan Navy ship ‘PNS Saif’ arrived at Chattogram Port on a goodwill visit to Bangladesh. Both the naval chief and the ship are scheduled to depart on November 12.
