Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has announced that if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) comes to power, all religious and ethnic groups in the country will enjoy equal status. He emphasized that there would be no divisions among the people based on religion or ethnicity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul made these remarks while addressing the Hindu Representative Conference organized by the Matua Bahujan Samaj Unity Alliance at the Bangladesh Krishibid Institution auditorium. The event also featured BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who spoke as the chief guest virtually from London.
Other notable speakers included BNP Standing Committee members Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. Fakhrul expressed the party's vision to build a Bangladesh where all religious and ethnic groups have equal rights. He recalled the unity among different communities during the 1971 liberation war and urged for similar unity to transform the country into a harmonious place for all.
BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy highlighted that the BNP is a party for all citizens, not just for Muslims. The conference was presided over by Somnath Dey, Convener of the Matua Bahujan Samaj Unity Alliance, with Member Secretary and Spokesperson Kapil Krishna Mondal moderating the event. Joint Convener Somen Shah and Chairman of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front Babu Bijon Kanti Sarkar also addressed the gathering.
