Jakarta: A blast injured dozens of people near a school in Indonesia's capital on Friday, a senior police official said without disclosing the cause of the explosion. Jakarta police chief Asep Edi Suheri reported that there was an explosion "in the vicinity" of a high school in the sprawling city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initial data indicated that approximately 54 individuals were affected by the explosion. Police chief Asep informed reporters, in comments broadcast by Kompas TV, that some of the injured had minor injuries, others moderate, and some had already been discharged from care.
Authorities cordoned off the area and began processing the crime scene, with a bomb squad from Jakarta police working to determine the cause of the blast. Two hospitals have set up posts to assist relatives in locating injured victims.
Asep stated that the investigation was ongoing as the incident had just taken place.
