North Bengal Sugar Mills Commences Sugarcane Crushing Season

Lalpur: North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd in Lalpur, Natore, today launched its sugarcane crushing programme for this season, setting a target to process 200,000 tons of sugarcane to produce 13,000 tons of sugar. The launch of the season’s crushing operation was marked by an inauguration ceremony led by Industries Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman, which was followed by a discussion session and a dua mahfil at the mill’s cane carrier premises.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was chaired by Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) Chairman Rashidul Hassan. Other notable speakers included Additional Secretary Md Nuruzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen, Superintendent of Police Md Tarikul Islam, and Managing Director of North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd Mohammad Farid Hossain Bhuiyan. During the programme, the speakers highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at making the sugar industry profitable. These efforts include increasing sugarcane prices for farmers and distributing high-quality sugarcane seeds to enhance productivity.



The speakers also urged farmers to supply high-quality sugarcane to the mills, emphasizing the importance of meeting production targets for the season.
