Rajshahi: The Rajshahi city unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today observed National Revolution and Solidarity Day with a series of programmes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the three-day observance began in the morning with the hoisting of the national and party flags, followed by the release of pigeons and balloons in front of the party’s city office at Malopara. Later, a discussion meeting took place at Batar More crossing with BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Mijanur Rahman Minu as the chief guest. City BNP President Mamun Or Rashid presided over the event.
Among the speakers were former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul, former city BNP general secretary Shafiqul Haque Milon, and current general secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. Addressing the audience, Minu emphasized the significance of November 7 as a symbol of national unity and democratic consciousness. He highlighted the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in opening a new chapter in the nation’s history and reaffirmed the BNP’s commitment to passing on his ideals to future generations.
A colourful rally was also organized in the city to commemorate the occasion. As part of the three-day observance, the BNP announced plans to hold a blood donation campaign on Saturday and tree plantation programmes on Sunday. “We are honouring the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman through these initiatives,” said City BNP President Mamun Or Rashid. “Our aim is to inspire the younger generation with his ideals and contributions to the country.”
