Los angeles: Prince Harry's wife Meghan Markle is to make her return to the big screen, media reported Wednesday, with a small cameo role in a film being shot around Los Angeles. The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly shooting scenes for "Close Personal Friends," which features "Emily in Paris" star Lily Collins, alongside Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, and Henry Golding.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the entertainment title Variety said the comedy "revolves around a 'regular' couple that meets a celebrity couple while on a trip to Santa Barbara." Markle, who starred in the legal series "Suits" for seven seasons, has not acted in seven years since her marriage to Prince Harry, the second son of Britain's King Charles.

The couple, residing in California after distancing themselves from the British royal family, no longer have access to the public purse. Instead, they rely on a lucrative deal with Netflix and Markle's emerging lifestyle brand. The Netflix deal includes the popular series "With Love, Meghan," featuring Markle in a fictionalized home setting, which has been extended for a second season and has a holiday special due in December.

Despite the series being criticized as "pointless" by some, the couple has faced challenges capturing public interest since their documentary "Harry and Meghan," which detailed their relationship and exit from royal duties, and set a record for a Netflix documentary with 23 million views in its first four days.

Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020 as relations with his family, especially his brother William, deteriorated. Harry's memoir "Spare," released in January 2023, further strained relations with Buckingham Palace due to its critical content about family members.

Harry has expressed hopes for reconciliation and met with King Charles in September. This meeting came months after revelations about the monarch's treatment for an undisclosed cancer. Meanwhile, Harry's uncle, Andrew, was stripped of his royal titles last month following scandals related to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
