Barkal: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today carried out a raid at the Barkal Upazila Health Complex in the district following allegations of corruption and irregularities. The operation was led jointly by Rangamati ACC Assistant Directors Ahmed Forhad Hossen and Md. Raju Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted based on specific allegations, and evidence of irregularities was found. Ahmed Forhad Hossen stated that during the raid, several duty doctors and officials were found absent at the health complex. He mentioned that some other irregularities were also detected and that necessary legal actions would be taken against those involved after a detailed investigation.
Resident physician Dr. Ziku Shil acknowledged the problems, citing an acute manpower crisis at the facility. "Only one doctor out of 17 is currently on duty here," he said. This shortage highlights the critical issues faced by the health complex in maintaining adequate staffing levels.
In addition, the ACC team also conducted separate drives at the Jagannathchhara Health and Family Welfare Center in Aimachhara and the Bhusanchara Health and Family Welfare Center, where irregularities were also found. The ongoing investigations aim to address the systemic issues and ensure accountability within these health facilities.
