Gopalganj: A five-year-old girl, Saima Khanam, was killed when an engine-run van hit her in the Mansabari Bazar area of Amtoli union under Kotalipara upazila of the district today. The deceased was Saima Khanam, daughter of the late Shahjalal Mia of the same area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred this morning when a speeding van hit the girl while she was crossing the road. She was taken to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex in critical condition. When her condition deteriorated, she was sent to the 250-bed General Hospital where Saima died while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotalipara Police Station Khandaker Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.
